We thought, we’d introduce you to the women behind Dalmatian, sisters Katie and Lucy Trinder.
Katie and Lucy have been involved with Dalmatian from the very beginning and set up the company with their Dad, Ken Trinder.
Ken had worked in the motor industry for over 30 years joining Evans Halshaw in 1992, where he eventually became the Managing Director of Evans Halshaw Contract Hire. In 2002, he became Head of Business Development at epyx and played a fundamental role in the company becoming one of the most important e-commerce platforms in the motor industry.
In 2015, Ken decided it was time for something different for the job market and along with his daughters Katie and Lucy created Dalmatian.
Ken passed in 2017 following a short battle with bile duct cancer, leaving Katie and Lucy to continue to build their Dad’s legacy, but who are Katie and Lucy?
Katie is our MD and an award-winning broadcast journalist, radio presenter and producer, with a strong background in business and management.
After starting out her career in 1999 with Mansfield 103.2, Katie was one of only 5 solo female breakfast show presenters in the UK and became one of the youngest Programme Managers ever. Alongside this role, Katie became part of the pioneering team for the BBC’s Big Toe radio show, which was targeted at children, before moving on to work for the British Forces with BFBS and entertaining the troops.
After returning to the UK in 2006, Katie went on to head up the team at Lincs FM, producing events with, Adele, The Saturdays and Olly Murs. She has also interviewed the likes of One Direction, Michael Bublé and Take That.
After 17 years, Katie swapped media for software and became part of the Dalmatian Nation.
Initially heading up the PR and Media strategy, Katie took over the role of Managing Directorin the wake of her father and co-founder’s death in 2017. Katie believes that job hunting should be as exciting as any other happy life event, like getting married or moving into a new home.
Lucy is our Operations Director and worked as PRINCE 2 Project Manager for HR mergers and a Systems analyst within the public sector for 12 years since graduating in 2002. Specialising in developing regional Major Crime and Hi-Tech Crime solutions, Lucy received several commendations for her achievements and wrote the national policies for witness protection schemes which are still in place today.
In 2014 she chose to switch gear in her career and began working as a coach for long-term unemployed people as well as a professional CV writer for senior professionals. This led to the inspiration for Dalmatian, she consequently spent 18 months researching the market need.
Lucy describes herself as having a strong personality and having worked in environments where team work was the key to success, she wants Dalmatian to help other businesses hire the right people and strengthen their pack in the right way first time.
Between them, Katie and Lucy own 7 dogs and 2 cats and love to travel.
We made them answer our questionnaire to see just how well they know each other…. Here are the results!
